EAA Airventure 2016: Avfuel Honors Aviation History, SPonsors B-17 Yankee Lady

OSHKOSH, Wis., July 13, 2016 / GENERAL AVIATION NEWS – Avfuel Corporation honors the aviation industry’s rich history by sponsoring the Yankee Air Museum’s B-17 Yankee Lady at EAA AirVenture 2016.

Known as the “Flying Fortress,” the B-17 was a popular WWII bomber primarily used to destroy enemy war facilities. As one of only 10 B-17 airframes flyable today, the Yankee Lady is an important symbol of patriotism and a window into aviation’s pivotal past. Normally housed at Willow Run Airport in Belleville, Mich., the Yankee Lady will be stationed on the airport field, easily accessible to all airshow visitors.

“It’s an honor to be able to provide this unique experience for fellow aviation enthusiasts,” said Marci Ammerman, Avfuel vice president of marketing. “At Avfuel, we recognize the importance of keeping history alive by offering educational opportunities to the public—it’s our way of honoring this aircraft’s legacy and the legacy of those who bravely flew her. Along with Avfuel representatives, museum volunteers will be available to answer questions from the public as they explore the aircraft.”

In addition to learning more about the B-17, visitors to the Yankee Lady exhibit have the opportunity to grab some Avfuel swag. Avfuel team members will be throwing special branded giveaways and surprise AVTRIP points from the wings of the B-17 prior to airshows and at other unannounced times.

“The enthusiasm at AirVenture is contagious,” said Ammerman. “Avfuel strives to add to the excitement by offering this unique opportunity. Along with its historical significance, the B-17 exemplifies the spirit of EAA’s event and America’s ongoing fascination with aviation.”

The Yankee Air Museum’s B-17 Yankee Lady will be on display from Monday, July 25 – Saturday, July 30 with Avfuel giveaways occurring prior to airshows and at other unannounced times. AirVenture takes place at the Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis.; information regarding tickets and attendance can be found at www.eaa.org.
