MINOT, N.D. / April 28, 2016 / GENERAL AVIATION NEWS – Minot Aero Center, a member of the Avfuel Network, refreshed its FBO facility with renovations that offer customers an updated space to relax and enjoy art while staff get to work.
The updated lobby includes a giant mural of the history of American aviation created by local artist and aviation enthusiast Leon Basler—now known as the “Freedom Lobby”—where customers can retreat for some tranquility and admire the painting. In addition, the facility is now reminiscent of an art gallery with upwards of 40 aviation photos taken by Moose Peterson for guests to peruse.
“We’re passionate about the aviation industry and wanted to show our love by displaying artwork throughout the facility,” said Warren Pietsch, Minot Aero Center president and co-owner. “It’s our way of sharing our passion and showing respect for the history of aviation—it also makes our facility a unique location to fly into, offering customers an enhanced experience.”
In addition to art, Minot added new furniture ensuring customers have plenty of room to lounge: cozy upstairs chairs offer pilots much-needed rest and relaxation, while utility meets aesthetics with granite benches along every wall. To help pass the time, Minot’s lunch area—which includes a fully-functional kitchenette—features a pool table offering customers an opportunity for a little fun in competition.
Along with facility upgrades, guests to Minot will always enjoy comprehensive services, including fueling, quick turns, maintenance, hangar and expert concierge services. Through April 30, pilots can earn four AVTRIP Points per gallon.
Minot Aero Center is led by one of the Avfuel Network’s most accomplished pilots, Warren Pietsch, who has flown more than 26,000 hours. He completed his first solo flight on his 16th birthday and later flew for his family’s charter operation. From there, Pietsch worked as a major airline captain for 20 years, flying Lockheed 1011, B-727 and B-737 aircraft globally. In 1980, he joined the air show industry performing formation aerobatics and is now an Aerobatic Competency Evaluator for the International Council of Air Shows. He and his brother were named honorary Canadian Snowbirds and are proud recipients of the 2005 Bill Barber Showmanship Award.
