AVFUEL AWARDS ANNUAL AVTRIP SCHOLARSHIP

October 29, 2007 press release

AVFUEL AWARDS ANNUAL AVTRIP SCHOLARSHIP

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN/ AVFUEL INDUSTRY NEWS/ AVTRIP, the refueling incentive awards program for pilots, has chosen the latest recipient of its annual AVTRIP Scholarship.  The winner of the 2007 Award, Timothy Ritter, lives in Toledo, Ohio, and was thrilled to learn of his award.  In addition to the $2000.00 that will be applied to furthering his aviation education, Ritter received 50,000 Bonus AVTRIP Points.

Ritter's application for the Avfuel AVTRIP Scholarship caught the eye of Avfuel with its enthusiasm and humility.  Ritter believes in sharing the benefits of his pilot experience and education to other potential pilots, and acts as a mentor whenever he can.  It is Avfuel's passion to support the growth of the general and commercial aviation industries by encouraging dedicated pilots like Ritter to achieve success and constant advancement.

"With a shrinking aviation population and fleet due to increased costs of taxes, liability, user fees and security, it is important to grow the ranks of general aviation pilots," says Ritter.  "I like to encourage people to learn how to fly." Indeed, Ritter developed what would turn out to be a life-long fascination with learning to fly at a very young age.

He perceives flying as both an adventure and a supreme accomplishment.  "Flying will give you the ability to see the world in a whole different way," he says.  "It will let you span great distances with ease.  It will also shrink the world for you," adds Ritter, who attributes many of his experiences to flying.  He therefore intends to continue his aviation education into the future.  "With the right instructor and attitude, flight training can be very enjoyable."  Ritter plans to use the scholarship to earn his seaplane rating and to get his tail wheel endorsement at Northwoods Aviation in Cadillac, Michigan.

Every year, Avfuel awards an AVTRIP Scholarship in the effort to further the pursuit of general aviation as a realistic career move for men and women across the nation.  Applications for the 2008 AVTRIP Scholarship are available online at avfuel.com.  Entrants must be AVTRIP members to participate, and have updated account record.
