CENTRAL COAST JET CENTER (SMX) OFFERS U.S. CUSTOMS
SANTA MARIA, CALIFORNIA/AVFUEL INDUSTRY NEWS/ SANTA MARIA, Central Coast Jet Center is now offering U.S. Customs to travelers through Santa Maria Airport (KSMX). The operation became available December 1, 2006, and currently operates Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with call out offered 7 days a week. The airport is also a comprehensive tech stop for enroute aircraft to such destinations as the Hawaiian Islands, the Pacific Rim and Mexico. Jim Kunkle, President of Central Coast Jet Center, reports increased business as a direct result of the new offerings.
"Our location is ideal for travelers departing from the West Coast who seek to avoid Los Angeles area congestion," says Kunkle. The airport is ideally situated to host enroute flights such as those from Central and Eastern Canada to the Hawaiian Islands, Canada to Southern California, the Pacific Rim to Central and Eastern US, and Mexico to Northern California, Oregon and Washington.
"Central Coast Jet Center is about fast and seamless service. Aircraft coming through from Hawaii via Houston are able to get in and out of the airspace so quickly that pilots often say they will never go out of Oakland again," explained Doug Butler, Vice President of Operations.
According to Butler, the full support facility directly adjacent to Customs expedites passenger throughput. With customer speed and comfort in mind, Central Coast Jet Center also offers the full array of aircraft services like international cleaning and catering. As an Avfuel dealer, Central Coast Jet Center sells Avfuel products and programs including Avfuel Contract Fuel and the AVTRIP pilot incentive program.
"Our customer service sets us apart. When Doug and I starting doing this, we wanted people to be treated how they felt they deserved to be treated. Anybody can pump fuel and get customers. We take the extra step to provide really excellent service and make each customer go away happy," said Jim Kunkle,
The first aircraft to clear KSMX customs, shown in the picture, arrived non-stop from Asia. It spent less than thirty minutes in total duration on the ground, including fuel service.
