Monterey Jet Center, an airport in California, is consistently voted by the pilots as one of the top 3 airports in the business aviation category in the US. I recently met Matthew, GM at the airport and we reflected on the journey the airport went through for their endeavor to excel in energy transition. I asked Matt that back in March 2021, when air travel was slow due to covid, what made them decide to work with Neste and our distribution partner Avfuel Corporation to be one of the first airports in the region to introduce a relatively new solution – sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF)? "There were risks to bear, but we were determined to be the 1st to have dedicated blended SAF in stock onsite", Matt told me. “Clients in our business sometimes are also key influencers to drive energy profile decisions in their own industries.” Sustainability leadership such as the early adoption of SAF can bring great impact to the aviation & many other industries. The whole process was not easy. The operation team had to figure out many obstacles along the way, which was the challenging part of being the first, they had no precedent to learn from. Yes, more work but the rewarding part is that with their relentless effort, the SAF acceptance level by their clients grew greatly by 50% vs 3 years ago. Thanks to their openness to sharing their journey, their early adopting SAF experience has been positively influencing the similar effort by other airports. For any new solutions or products to get to scale up, there must be determined trailblazers who are willing to bear the risks to jump into the unknown and figure out a way to advance before more will learn from the early adopters and thereafter follow with an easier path. In simple terms, We Need Leaders! One of the key reasons why I love what I do is that we, as a team of like-minded innovators, are transforming the way the world utilizes energy and we are founding many first of its kinds! I am thankful that examples like this come across all the time! Just the past few weeks, we witnessed the introduction of our first branded Neste Renewable Diesel fueled cardlock in Washington with Coleman Oil Company, celebrated the first ever all blended SAF airport in the entire Americas region with Truckee Tahoe Airport District, commemorated the glorious 3 year journey with Monterey Jet Center since their first mover action of the industry to provide 100% blended SAF with dedicated physical supply chain offer. We also announced that later in April, we'll introduce renewable diesel into New Jersey being the pioneer to do so in that region with KW Rastall Oil.  Our effort in driving the energy transformation will continue introducing more first moves and better solutions worldwide. Although I can't predict everything, more shining examples like the above, where we leverage our expertise in renewable solutions and deliver innovative growth with our teams & partners in the energy space, are guaranteed to our customers!

Sustainable aviation fuel is essential to decarbonize aviation, and we are increasing our use of the fuel to encourage growth in the #SAF industry. Today, we are committing to buy 9.4 million gallons (35.6 million liters) of blended SAF for 2024 U.S. commercial operations - our largest annual purchase to date.
